The Manchester and District Ladies Cycling Association was formed to encourage ladies' cycle racing, especially Time Trials. Membership is open to individuals and clubs in the Manchester area.

Each year the M&DLCA promotes three 10 mile time trials, two 25 mile time trials and one 50 mile time trial. See Events page.

We are very sad to report the death on Tuesday 13 July 2010 of Irene Southart (1927 - 2010). Irene was a life member and past President of the M&DLCA and a lifelong member of the Adorior CC and for many years she organised their well-known Mountain Time Trial.

She was a prolific time triallist, excelling at long distance events and was still winning prizes at the age of 76. She won the M&DLCA BAR Trophy in 1959 and 1961, the LH Brooks 50-mile Trophy in 1959 and 1966, the Carlton Handicap Trophy in 1958, 1959, 1970, 1975. 1976 and 1977, and the Millie Robinson Veterans Trophy in 1971, 1972, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1990 and 1991 - a marvellous record. She was also a great cook and her home-spun Xmas parties are sorely missed.

Her funeral was well attended and a few cyclists followed the hearse on their bikes in tribute to Irene. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to all her family and close friends.
